Kiwi - Actinidia deliciosa 'Golden Kiwi' (female)

Actinidia deliciosa 'Golden Kiwi' is a variety of kiwi, a perennial plant in the Actinidiaceae family, originating in China. Unlike the common green kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa), 'Golden Kiwi' fruits have a golden-yellow color, hence their name.

Fruit quality: 'Golden Kiwi' fruits have an oval shape and medium size, with a smooth and thin brown skin. The pulp of the fruit is juicy, with a soft and creamy consistency. The taste of 'Golden Kiwi' is sweet, with notes of tropical aroma, and is less acidic than that of green kiwi. This fruit is known for its delicious and refined taste, which can be described as a mixture of pineapple, mango and strawberry. Also, the fruits are rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium and dietary fiber.

The weight of the ripe fruit varies between 70-150 grams, depending on the climate and conditions, the average being around 100 grams.

Pollination : Actinidia deliciosa 'Golden Kiwi' is a dioecious plant, which means that both male and female plants are needed to produce fruit. For good pollination and fruit production, it is recommended to plant one male for every 3-8 females. It needs pollinators such as: Actinidia deliciosa 'Atlas', Actinidia deliciosa 'Tomuri'.

Frost resistance: up to -20 degrees, but it is recommended that the plant be protected in the first 2-3 years, until the stem lignifies/mature enough.

Cultivation recommendations: Cultivated on trellises/arches/fences, like a vine. We recommend you choose an area sheltered from the wind, preferably next to a wall/fence with southern exposure. Kiwi 'Hayward' appreciates heat and direct sun. The first cuts can be made 2 years after planting.

It does not require special soil and is resistant to diseases and pests, being naturally considered "pest free".
