Sedum Burrito (Donkey's Tail)
Sedum Burrito, also known as Burro's Tail or Donkey's Tail, is an ornamental succulent in the Crassulaceae family, valued for its long, decorative stems, filled with small, fleshy, densely arranged leaves. The plant has a flowing appearance, which is why it is often grown in hanging pots or on the edge of tall supports.
Main features:
• The stems have a pendent growth and can reach considerable lengths over time.
• The leaves are oval, gray-green or blue-green, with a waxy layer that retains moisture and gives them a matte appearance.
• The flowers, although rarely seen in indoor culture, can be small, in shades of pink or red, and develop at the top of the stems.
Recommended growing conditions:
• Light : Preferably bright light, even direct sun for part of the day, but avoid sudden exposure to extremely strong sun if the plant is not used to it.
• Temperature : It grows well in moderate temperatures, but tolerates cooler periods as long as it is not exposed to frost. This plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors - it can withstand temperatures down to -20°C.
• Watering : It is a succulent plant that stores water in its leaves, so it needs infrequent watering. The substrate should be allowed to dry out partially between waterings. Excess water can cause root rot.
• Soil : A special mix for cacti and succulents is recommended, well-drained, to prevent water accumulation around the roots.
• Fertilization : A small dose of fertilizer for cacti or succulents, applied occasionally during the growing season, is sufficient.
• Care : The fragile stems can break if the plant is handled frequently. The broken parts can easily root for propagation.
With its original appearance and relatively easy maintenance, Sedum Burrito is preferred by those who want to add a touch of color and texture to their plant collection, whether it's a sunny balcony, a terrace, or even a bright corner indoors.
