Kumquat care instructions
Location: bright place with a few hours of sun during the summer; in winter in a cool place with good light.
Substrate: heavier mixture consisting of peat, coarse sand, leaf soil, fertilizer.
Moisture: water moderately when the soil dries slightly on the surface, spray on the leaves. Excess moisture is harmful, the plant can lose leaves en masse, the root can rot. Dryness also leads to leaf loss.
Characteristics: flowers can be present at any time of the year; at the same time the shrub can have flowers, green fruits and ripe fruits.
If the plant stagnates, it must be fertilized during the warm period once a week with special fertilizer for citrus fruits. In order to prepare for in winter, in autumn, all the tips are cut. They overwinter in cool rooms (NOT near the radiator) and need to be watered less often. This rest is absolutely necessary for flowering and abundant fruiting next year. In April-May, the second shortening of the branches/shoots takes place.
