Opuntia microdasys var. pallida - cactus „urechi de iepure”

Opuntia microdasys var. pallida, also known as the pale yellow "rabbit ear" cactus, is an elegant and graphic variety from the genus Opuntia, native to the arid regions of Mexico. It stands out through its flat green pads, arranged in pairs or groups, covered with dense areoles with fine, pale straw-yellow glochids, which give it a subtle and bright ornamental appearance.

This variety is popular for its decorative look and its ability to adapt easily both indoors and outdoors (in mild climates). Although the glochids can irritate the skin, they are finer than those of the classic forms and can be avoided with careful handling.

• Light: loves direct light and sun – ideal for south-facing windows

• Temperature: optimal between 18–30°C; can tolerate down to 5°C if the soil is dry

• Watering: moderate – only when the soil is completely dry; watering is drastically reduced in winter

• Soil: substrate for cacti and succulents, with excellent drainage (perlite, sand)

• Fertilizing: monthly during the warm period (April–September) with fertilizer for cacti
