Alpinia galanga (Ghimbir Thailandez, Galangal)

Alpinia galanga is a tall plant from the ginger family, grown for its rhizomes which have important medicinal and aromatic properties.

The root (rhizome) of Alpinia galanga has been historically used in Unami medicine, being considered an essential part in treating certain illnesses and conditions.

At the same time, it is used as a spice and flavoring both in Arabic and Asian cuisine.

Growing tips: In Romania, it can be grown indoors to control its size, or in the garden - but the rhizomes need to be dug up in the cold season or covered with a sufficient layer of soil to protect them from severe frost. Cold resistance: -7°C
