Tillandsia cyanea is an epiphytic plant from the Bromeliaceae family, known for its exotic appearance. It has long, thin and arched leaves, which form a rosette, and produces a distinct spike-shaped inflorescence, pink in color that can vary up to shades of red, which turns green when the plant does not have enough light.
From each bract of the inflorescence appear small flowers, of an intense blue-violet, which is where the name "cyanea" comes from. The plant prefers indirect light, high humidity and does not necessarily require soil, being epiphytic at the base and implicitly able to absorb water and nutrients from the air.
It is one of the most popular tillandsia varieties due to its beauty given by its unusual, intense and strongly contrasting colors.
