






Raisin tree - Amelanchier lamarckii - sweet and aromatic fruits

The raisin tree, Amelanchier lamarckii - a highly appreciated species, both for its decorative appearance and for its delicious fruits.
In spring, Amelanchier lamarckii is covered with delicate, white, star-shaped flowers, discreetly fragrant. In autumn, the foliage creates a real spectacle - the leaves turn red-orange. The plant is frequently used by renowned designers for concept gardens.
The fruits resemble blueberries, but are much sweeter and more aromatic, and the production is not negligible at all, being very high. When not picked on time, the fruits dry on the tree and have a taste and appearance similar to raisins. The fruits can be used for fresh consumption but also for desserts, jams or other preparations.
Amelanchier lamarckii can be grown as a shrub or tree. It can reach a mature height of 3-4m.

It does not require special soil and is resistant to diseases and pests. It withstands temperatures down to -30 °C, without the need for winter protection.
