Nolina recurvata (Elephant's Foot), native to Texas, Mexico, is a slow-growing plant that very rarely reaches 2 m indoors. In its natural environment, it can grow up to 8-10 m.

Placement: bright but shaded spot.
Humidity: water only when the soil has dried well.
Soil: neutral peat or a loose mixture; it does not develop deep roots, so plant in shallow and wide pots at the opening to encourage thickening of the trunk.
Propagation: by cutting the tip and rooting.
Characteristics: abundant watering leads to rotting of the trunk and roots. It is an exotic plant valued for its wild appearance. It grows slowly, on a thick and knobby stem, similar to bonsai.
