Blackberry - Rubus fruticosus 'Navaho'
Rubus fruticosus ' Navaho ' is a thornless, self-fertile blackberry variety. This variety is known and appreciated for the fact that it is one of the few varieties without thorns , which makes it easier to harvest the fruits without scratching yourself.
The fruits produced by Rubus fruticosus 'Navaho' are large (6-8 grams), with an intense black color and a sweet aroma. They are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and fibers, being consumed both fresh and in products such as jams, jellies, juices and cakes. The ripening period of the fruits is in the summer months, from mid-July to September, depending on the geographical area.
The 'Navaho' variety is a vigorous and disease-resistant plant, being able to adapt to a variety of soil and climate conditions. It prefers well-drained soils, rich in organic matter and exposure to the sun, but it can also tolerate partial shade.
The plant can reach heights of up to 1.5-2 meters, with an erect and compact growth, which makes it suitable for small gardens or for cultivation in pots. Also, cross-pollination with other blackberry varieties is recommended to obtain more abundant productions.
Withstands temperatures up to - 25 °C. The plant is very resistant to diseases and pests.
Height with pots included: approx. 50 cm
Pot size: 11-14 cm or 2 l
Plants for the garden or terrace are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shading nets or anti-hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage - the leaves can show traces, defects or other damage.
In the cold season, the plants enter the period of vegetative rest.
