Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' - foliaj vesnic verde, flori parfumate

Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' is a compact and dwarf variety of magnolia grandiflora, valued both for its spectacular flowers and its small size, which makes it ideal for small garden spaces or for growing in pots, as well as for its striking foliage.

Magnolia 'Little Gem' is known for its large, white flowers, highly fragrant, which bloom from spring through autumn. The flowers have fleshy petals and are cup-shaped. They are usually about 10-12 cm in diameter, although some can reach larger sizes.

The leaves are also attractive, having an oval shape, a leathery texture, and a shiny dark green color on the upper side, with a bronze shade underneath. This combination of dark green and bronze adds a touch of contrast and texture to the landscape. The foliage of this plant is evergreen – the leaves fall only under extreme temperature conditions.

This magnolia variety grows as a shrub or small tree, reaching about 4-6 meters in height and 2-3 meters in width. It has a slow growth rate and a pyramidal or oval shape. It is resistant to diseases and pests and prefers well-drained soils with a neutral or slightly acidic pH.

Cold resistance: withstands down to -20°C. It is preferable to plant it in areas sheltered from strong drafts, for the best appearance of the foliage.
