Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' - evergreen foliage, fragrant flowers (developed specimens)
Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' is a compact and dwarf variety of magnolia grandiflora, appreciated both for its spectacular flowers and for its small size, which make it ideal for small garden spaces or for cultivation in pots, as well as for its spectacular foliage.
Magnolia 'Little Gem' is known for its large, white , very fragrant flowers that appear from spring to autumn. The flowers have fleshy petals and are cup-shaped. They are usually about 10-12 cm in diameter, although some can reach larger sizes.
The leaves are also attractive, having an oval shape, a leathery texture and a glossy dark green color on the top with a bronze tinge on the bottom. This combination of dark green and bronze adds a touch of contrast and texture to the landscape. The foliage of this plant is evergreen - the leaves fall only in the context of extreme temperatures.
This variety of magnolia grows in a shrub or a small tree, with a height of about 4-6 meters and a width of 2-3 meters. It has a slow growth and a pyramidal or oval shape. It is resistant to diseases and pests and prefers well-drained soils, with a neutral or slightly acidic pH.
Cold resistance : withstands up to -20°C. It is preferable to be planted in areas protected from strong air currents, for a pleasant appearance of the foliage.
