Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' of the magnolia grandiflora, appreciated both for its huge (20-25 cm!!) and spectacular flowers, as well as for its evergreen foliage, with a unique appearance.
Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' is known for its large, white, very fragrant flowers that appear from spring to autumn. The flowers have fleshy petals and are cup-shaped. They are usually about 20-26 cm in diameter, although some can reach larger sizes.
The leaves are also attractive, having an oval shape, a leathery texture and a glossy dark green color on the top with a bronze tinge on the bottom. This combination of dark green and bronze adds a touch of contrast and texture to the landscape. The foliage of this plant is evergreen - the leaves fall only in the context of extreme temperatures.
This variety of magnolia grows in a shrub or a small tree, with a height of about 4-6 meters and a width of 2-3 meters. It has a slow growth and a pyramidal or oval shape. It is resistant to diseases and pests and prefers well-drained soils with a neutral or slightly acidic pH.
Cold resistance : withstands up to -20°C. It is preferable to be planted in areas protected from strong air currents, for a pleasant appearance of the foliage.
