Oleander, scientifically known as Nerium oleander, is a very popular shrub due to its beautiful and colorful flowers, which can be white, pink, red, salmon, or yellow. It originates from the Mediterranean regions, Southwest Asia, and China, but has adapted well to many other areas with a warm-temperate climate.

Care

• Light: Prefers strong, direct light, ideally placed in a sunny spot.
• Watering: Needs regular watering during warm periods, allowing the soil to dry out partially between waterings. In winter, reduce the frequency of watering.
• Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soils. A mix of garden soil with sand or perlite can help improve drainage.
• Temperature: Is heat-resistant and can tolerate low temperatures down to -5°C for short periods. However, in areas with cold winters, it is recommended to bring it indoors or into a sheltered space.
• Fertilizer: Apply fertilizer for flowering plants from spring to autumn to support abundant blooming.
• Pruning: Regular pruning, done in spring, helps maintain the desired shape and stimulates flowering. Old or damaged branches can be removed, and overly long branches can be shortened to encourage new flower growth.
