Lavanda in ghiveci - Lavandula angustifolia 'Ardeche Blue'
Lavandula angustifolia 'Ardeche Blue' is a cultivar valued for its vibrant color and strong fragrance. It originates from France, from the Ardeche region, about 200 km from the Mediterranean Sea.
It is a compact and dense perennial shrub that can reach a height of 60-70 cm. The leaves are narrow, silver-green in color, which beautifully contrasts with the flowers.
The 'Ardeche Blue' flower is remarkable for its long, deep blue flower clusters that appear in the summer months. The flowers emit a strong scent and attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.
This lavender variety prefers sunny places and well-drained soils. It is a drought-resistant plant that does not require much water once established.
'Ardeche Blue' lavender is suitable for growing in the garden or in pots (large, constantly watered) and is often used in landscape arrangements, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. Also, the flowers can be harvested and dried to be used in lavender sachets or other aromatic products.
Considered a shrub due to its woody branches, lavender reaches maturity in 3-5 years and can easily live up to 50-60 years – Western Europe is well known for plantations up to 100 years old.
