Full description and specifications

Haworthia limifolia 'Roux' is an attractive succulent plant, prized for its distinctive leaves and easy maintenance. This variety is part of the Haworthia genus, known for its decorative shapes and patterns.

Haworthia limifolia 'Roux' forms compact rosettes of fleshy leaves, symmetrically arranged. The rosettes can have a diameter of 8-10 cm and are very dense.

The leaves are thick, triangular, with jagged edges and a striated texture, giving them a rough appearance. The color of the leaves is usually dark green, but it can vary depending on the light conditions, sometimes having shades of lighter green or even reddish.

Care:

  1. Light: Haworthia limifolia 'Roux' prefers indirect light. It can tolerate partial shade, but exposure to filtered light will ensure optimal growth.

  2. Soil: I prefer a well-drained soil, similar to that used for cacti and succulents. A mix of cactus soil, combined with sand or perlite, is ideal to prevent excessive water retention.

  3. Watering: Watering should be moderate, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering should be reduced to a minimum to prevent root rot. Avoid watering directly on the leaves.

  4. Temperature: The plant develops best at temperatures between 15-26°C. It can tolerate lower temperatures, but must be protected from frost. In general, it prefers a temperate climate.

  5. Humidity: Haworthia limifolia 'Roux' tolerates dry air well and does not require high humidity. It is a suitable plant for the usual indoor climate.

  6. Fertilization: Fertilize the plant once every 2-3 months during the growth period (spring and summer) with a liquid fertilizer for cacti and succulents, diluted to half the recommended concentration.

  7. Propagation: The plant is easily propagated by separating the young that appear at the base of the rosette. These seedlings can be planted directly in well-drained soil. Propagation by leaf cuttings is also possible, but requires more time.

  8. Common problems: The main problem is excessive watering, which can lead to root rot. Make sure that the soil is well drained and that the plant is not standing in water. Also monitor the plant for pests such as aphids or spider mites, although these are not usually a major problem.
