Full description and specifications

Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is an old hazelnut variety, discovered in 1887. It has great decorative value and is known for its dark red fruits, called "zellernoot". This plant is part of the Betulaceae family and is native to Europe and Western Asia. It is a shrub or a small tree, which can grow up to 4-6 meters high (with a diameter of 3-4 m) and is cultivated both for its fruits and its wood.

It produces abundant round fruits with a diameter of approx. 2 cm.

Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is self-fertile, but production improves significantly when cross-pollinated with another variety, such as Nottingham.

Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is a popular plant in ornamental gardens, as its deep red fruits add a splash of color to the landscape.
