Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is an old hazel variety, discovered in 1887. It has high decorative value and is known for its dark red fruits called "zellernoot". This plant belongs to the Betulaceae family and is native to Europe and Western Asia. It is a shrub or small tree that can grow up to 4-6 meters tall (with a diameter of 3-4 m) and is cultivated both for its fruits and its wood.

It produces abundantly round fruits with a diameter of approx. 2 cm.

Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is self-fertile, but production improves significantly when cross-pollinated with another variety, such as Nottingham.

Corylus Avellana 'Rode Zellernoot' is a popular plant in ornamental gardens, as its dark red fruits add a splash of color to the landscape.

Synonyms: Corylus avellana 'Zellernuss', Corylus avellana 'Purple Hazel'

This shrub does not have red leaves all year round - the leaves and fruits turn red in the warm season, as a reaction of the plant to the strong summer sun.

Cold resistance: down to -35°C

Height including pot: approx. 50-60 cm
Pot size: 2 liters
