Cultivation tips for Clematis tangutica varieties
In some more exotic countries these lovely plants are considered invasive and problematic, but in Europe this is not the case. Tangutica clematis are extremely useful in the garden, providing colour and interest from mid summer to late autumn, most producing excellent seed heads for added interest in the winter months. They do well in warm, sunny situations and are drought tolerant, even in poorer conditions where you would think they would struggle. They will not tolerate very clayey soils that sit in waterlogged soil, nor overwatering. They are very easy to grow and require minimal maintenance, with simple pruning. Avoid letting them get too wet in their first autumn and winter in the ground, or possibly plant them in the spring.
Tangutica may be delayed in showing new shoots and growth in the spring, so don't panic and think they are dead, they are just sleeping longer!
Height with ghjiveci included: 40-60 cm (varies depending on the season)
Pot diameter: 14-17 cm
Garden or patio plants are grown in unprotected spaces or with minimal protection (shade nets or hail nets). For this reason, naturally, they cannot have perfect foliage - the leaves may show marks, defects or other damage.
In the fall-winter season, plants are sold without leaves.
