Clematis montana var. rubens - mountain clematis with pale pink flowers and spectacular growth

Clematis montana var. rubens is a vigorous and romantic variety of clematis, known for its abundant flowering in May , when the plant is completely covered with pale pink flowers, with four petals and a delicate vanilla scent . It is one of the fastest climbing clematis, being ideal for covering pergolas, fences, walls or tall buildings .

The stems become woody with age, and the bronze-green foliage in spring adds a nice contrast to the pastel flowers. It does not require drastic pruning, being easy to maintain and suitable for cottage or naturalized gardens.
