Clematis viticella, also known as Italian clematis, is a vigorous and resistant climbing clematis. Its flowers are usually medium-sized, in various shades of purple, blue, pink or red and appear from July to September. Cultivators of this type of clematis are highly appreciated for their ability to grow quickly and for the abundance of flowers, being ideal for covering fences, pergolas or other structures in the garden. It is relatively easy to care for, preferring exposure to the sun or partial shade and well-drained soil.
Clematis viticella varieties are known for their very good resistance to both the weather and human actions/gardener's mistakes. It requires minimal interventions - a minimal pruning after the flowering period can provide a boost for a much faster rebloom, usually in the same season.
In the cold season, the plants appear in the form of sticks without leaves that seem dry - this aspect is perfectly normal and the plants are as viable as possible.
