Bonsai Ash

Fraxinus bonsai, also known as ash bonsai, is a popular choice for bonsai enthusiasts due to its attractive leaves and branching structure. Ash is part of the Oleaceae family and can be modeled in several styles.

Care

• Light : Prefers well-lit places, but must be protected from direct summer sun to prevent sunburn of the leaves.
• Watering : It needs regular watering, keeping the soil evenly moist. It is important not to let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
• Soil : A well-drained soil mix, specific to bonsai, is ideal. It should have the ability to retain moisture but at the same time allow the roots to aerate.
• Fertilization : Fertilize from spring to fall with a balanced fertilizer for bonsai, reducing the frequency in winter.
• Pruning and shaping : Pruning is done regularly to maintain the desired shape and to encourage branching. Pruning should be done outside periods of active growth to minimize plant stress.
• Winter protection : Ash bonsai should be protected from frost during winter, especially if temperatures drop below freezing.
