Astilbe 'Europa' (Pink)
Astilbe is a genus of perennial plants known for their delicate, charming flowers that add texture and color to any shady spot in the garden. These plants are prized for their showy, drooping inflorescences of small flowers clustered on tall, stiff stems that rise above attractive foliage. Flower colors range from white, pink, red to shades of purple and magenta, offering a wide range of options for landscape design.
Astilbe leaves are also decorative, ranging in shape from lanceolate to oval, with serrated or toothed edges, often with a shiny or bronzed appearance. The plants prefer shady or partially shaded locations, avoiding direct exposure to strong sunlight which can burn their leaves and shorten the flowering period.
Astilbe is valued in gardens not only for its spectacular flowers, but also for its ability to thrive in moist soils, making it an ideal choice for wetlands or near bodies of water. It is a relatively easy-care plant, requiring humus-rich soil and regular irrigation, especially during periods of drought.
This plant is perfect for borders, as a backdrop for shorter plants, or in shade gardens, where it can bring light and color. It is also popular in floral arrangements, due to its long stems and flowers that last well in the vase.
Its resistance to pests and diseases, along with its attractiveness to pollinators such as bees and butterflies, make Astilbe a valuable and sustainable plant in any garden.
