Adromischus cristatus
Adromischus Cristatus , also known as the "Shell Plant" or "Crested Plant" , is a decorative succulent native to South Africa. This plant is highly prized for its unique, highly textured leaves and ease of care.
General features:
- Leaves : The leaves are fleshy, with a wavy texture on the edges, resembling a crest (hence the name "cristatus"). They are gray-green, covered with a fine layer of fluff, which gives them a silky appearance.
- Stems : The stems are short, thick and slightly woody at the base, supporting compact rosettes of leaves.
- Dimensions : It is a small plant, reaching approximately 10-15 cm in height, which makes it perfect for small spaces or for succulent arrangements.
- Flowers : In optimal conditions, it produces small, pale green or pinkish flowers, placed on thin stems.
Care:
Light : Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate a few hours of direct sun, but should be protected from excessive exposure to midday sun, which can burn the leaves.
Watering: Requires infrequent watering, typical of succulents. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.
Avoid excessive watering, which can lead to root rot.
Soil: Prefers a well-drained soil, specifically for cacti and succulents. A mixture of sand, perlite and compost is ideal.
Temperature: Tolerates temperatures between 10-30°C, but cannot stand intense cold or frost.
Humidity: It does well in dry environments and does not require high humidity.
Fertilization: Fertilize once every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a cactus fertilizer.
Height with pot included approx. 12 cm.
