Full description and specifications

Kiwi - Actinidia deliciosa 'Solissimo'® - self-fertile variety, with very good frost resistance and large, commercial fruit.

The 'Solissimo' ('RENACT') kiwifruit is the first "self-fertile" (parthenocarpic) kiwi variety that offers constant production. The fruit size of this variety, derived from 'Hayward', is also significantly improved. Like other classic kiwi varieties, 'Solissimo' ('RENACT') is very vigorous; it grows up to a height of 4-7 meters and requires a sturdy frame for climbing. In the first years of cultivation, light protection against the cold in winter is recommended. Once established, the 'Solissimo' RENACT kiwi also forms one meter long shoots during the summer. Summer pruning in June/July is not only a recommendation, but mandatory for this variety. This measure promotes flowering the following year and, unlike winter pruning, tends to inhibit growth, which can increase yield and harvest volume.

Frost resistance: up to -20 degrees, but it is recommended that the plant be protected in the first 2-3 years, until the stem becomes lignified/mature enough.

Cultivation recommendations: Cultivated on trellises/arches/fences, like a vine. We recommend you to choose an area sheltered from the wind, preferably next to a wall/fence with southern exposure. Kiwi Solissimo appreciates heat and direct sun. The first cuts can be made 2 years after planting.

Fruit quality: the fruits are sweet (when fully ripe), slightly acidic, juicy, of medium size. They can be consumed without being cleaned and they keep well for several weeks.

It does not require special soil and is resistant to diseases and pests, being naturally considered "pest free".

Height with pots included: approx. 60 cm. It varies depending on the season.
Pot size: 1-2 liters (D11-13cm)

Note: in the cold season, the plants are in vegetative rest, shortened and sold without leaves.
