Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop'
Peperomia polybotrya ‘Raindrop' is an attractive houseplant, noted for its large, glossy, raindrop-shaped leaves. These thick green leaves have a waxy texture and offer a fresh and elegant look. It is ideal for indoor spaces due to its low care requirements and compact size.
Care
1. Light
• Prefers bright indirect light to keep the leaves healthy and glossy.
• It can tolerate lower light but growth may be slower.
• Avoid direct exposure to the sun, which can cause leaf burns.
2. Temperature
• The ideal temperature for this plant is between 18-24°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C and cold drafts, which can affect the plant's health.
3. Humidity
• It thrives in medium humidity conditions but can also tolerate drier indoor air. If the air is very dry, you can occasionally mist the leaves or place the plant near a humidifier.
4. Watering
• Water the plant moderately when the top layer of soil is dry. Make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent water accumulation and root rot.
• Reduce watering in the cold season when the plant goes dormant.
5. Soil
• Use a well-draining soil mix, such as one for houseplants, combined with perlite or sand to improve drainage.
6. Fertilization
• Fertilize the plant once a month during spring and summer, using a liquid fertilizer for ornamental foliage plants.
• Fertilizing is not necessary during the winter period.
7. Repotting
• Repot the plant every 2-3 years or when the roots fill the pot.
• Choose a pot with good drainage and use fresh soil.
8. Pruning and maintenance
• Remove yellow or dry leaves to keep the plant healthy.
• Wipe the leaves periodically with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain a glossy appearance.
