Tillandsia, also known as aerial plants, air plants or aerophyte plants. Although they are known as "air plants", they need water, nutrients and light to survive.
Air plants are epiphytes, which means that they grow on another host plant, without "stealing" nutrients. Tillandsia use the small vessels located on their leaves, called trichomes, to capture nutrients and moisture from the air or rainwater.
