Sansevieria 'Canary'
Sansevieria is a plant native to Africa, Madagascar and South Asia, and grown here as a houseplant.
Care:
-
Light: The plant prefers moderate indirect light, but can also tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct exposure to the strong sun, which can burn the leaves.
-
Watering: Sansevieria requires moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce the frequency of watering to prevent root rot.
-
Temperature: It does well in most temperature conditions in an ordinary house. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
-
Humidity: It does not require special humidity levels; it can tolerate dry indoor air, but an occasional spray can help remove dust from the leaves.
-
Fertilization: Fertilize the plant with a succulent plant fertilizer during the growing season, spring and summer, once a month.
-
Repotting: Repot only when the roots start to come out of the pot, usually every 2-3 years.
Sansevieria is famous for turning CO2 into O2 at night. It is said that in an environment where you have no fresh air at all, if you have 6-8 Sansevieria plants per person, they will produce enough oxygen to live. NASA has placed it among the plants that absorb toxins, especially nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde.
