Cattleya tenebrosa 'YD Black Eye' is an attractive cultivar of the botanical species
Cattleya tenebrosa. Discovered in 2006, with fragrant flowers, native to Brazil, found in the regions of Bahia and Espirito Santo. It has pseudobulbs up to 30 cm tall and stiff leaves, 30 cm long, green, while the flowers are large, about 20 cm, bronze-copper in color with a dark purple, almost black lip, creating a dramatic contrast. It blooms more frequently in summer, with 2-3 flowers per stem, giving off a pleasant, spicy or citrus scent. It prefers moderate indirect light, intermediate temperatures, and moderate humidity. It is valued for its large, unique flowers and intense fragrance.
