Anthurium dressleri - baby plant
Anthurium dressleri Croat is an aroid species native to the humid tropical forests of Panama (Colón Province, Río Guanche area) and northwestern Colombia. It belongs to the Cardiolonchium section and is prized in collections for its velvety, thick leaves, ranging from very dark green to almost black.
The leaves are narrowly ovate or cordate, with a deeply lobed base, often-closed sinus, and a matte, velvety texture. The veins are subtle (concolorous), not white as in crystallinum or clarinervium. The petioles are ridged or slightly winged, often with a purplish tint. It grows terrestrially, with a short stem. The inflorescence has a white or greenish-white spathe and a yellowish spadix; it rarely flowers indoors.
Key characteristics:
- Velvety, thick leaves, very dark green / almost black
- Velvet-like texture, subtle veins
- Compact, terrestrial growth

- Temperature: 20–27°C, stable. Avoid cold drafts and drops below 18°C.
- Watering: keep the substrate slightly moist but airy. Allow the top layer to dry partially. It does not tolerate stagnant water.
- Humidity: high (ideally 70%+), with good ventilation. It thrives in a cabinet or indoor greenhouse.

A collector's plant. A spectacular accent with deeply colored foliage and a velvety texture. It is not intended for an ordinary dry windowsill - it requires higher humidity and a stable climate.
The velvety leaves are easily marked by hard water or contact; it prefers rainwater, distilled water, or water filtered by reverse osmosis. It grows relatively slowly and is demanding when it comes to stable conditions.
A collector's Anthurium with almost black velvety foliage, for those who can provide consistent humidity and moderate light.
📌 Note: The leaves may have cosmetic imperfections (scratches, bends, or superficial marks) caused by handling, transportation, or adaptation to new environmental conditions. These aspects are normal and do not affect the plant's health, viability, or development.
