Neoporteria nidus f. senilis
Neoporteria nidus f. senilis , also known as Eriosyce senilis , is a rare and spectacular cactus, appreciated for its compact globular appearance and its impressive crown of long, thin, whitish, hair-like spines . These silky spines create a "nest" effect, protecting the plant from the intense sun and retaining moisture in its natural environment.
Native to the arid regions of Chile , this cactus grows in mountainous and coastal areas, where it survives in extreme drought conditions and fluctuating temperatures. When mature, it stands out for its vibrant, bright red or deep pink flowers , which create a spectacular contrast with its spiny structure.

💧 Watering: Minimal! Water once every 2-3 weeks in the warm season and once every 4-6 weeks in the winter. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot.
🌱 Substrate: Extremely well-drained soil, ideal for a mix for cacti and succulents, with a high content of sand and gravel .
🌿 Fertilization: Apply a weak fertilizer for cacti (NPK 5-10-10) once every 2 months during the growing period (spring-summer).
🪴 Transplantation: It is recommended once every 3-4 years , to allow the roots to develop and renew the substrate.
