Macropodanthus cootesii - a botanical species endemic to the Philippines.

The plant was named after the Australian orchid enthusiast Jim Cootes, who discovered it. Macropodanthus cootesii was first described in December 2010 by Dr. George Tiong in the German journal Die Orchidee.

The growth habit is typical of Vandaceous orchids and somewhat similar to Phalaenopsis - which suggests similar care conditions. The plant can be grown in sphagnum moss, bark, mixes, or mounted.

The stems are long, hanging, loaded with numerous flowers colored in shades of yellow-green, strongly fragrant (citrus scent).

Flower size: approx. 3 cm

Fragrant flowers: Yes
