Saxifraga stolonifera is a plant beloved for its colorful leaves, also known as Jew's Beard, Deaf Grass, Strugurel or Mouse's Eyes.

Saxifraga stolonifera is an easy-to-care-for plant.

1. Light

  • It prefers indirect light or semi-shade.
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

2. Watering

  • Water the plant regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist, but avoid excess water.
  • In the cold season, reduce watering, but do not let the soil dry out completely.

3. Humidity

  • It loves moderate humidity, making it ideal for bathrooms or well-lit kitchens.
  • In dry environments, spray water on the leaves occasionally or use a humidifier.

4. Soil

  • It prefers well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A mixture of all-purpose soil with sand or perlite is ideal.

5. Temperature

  • The ideal temperature is between 15-25°C .
  • Avoid exposure to temperatures below 5°C to avoid leaf loss. It can also withstand temperatures in the garden down to -10°C, in an area protected from blizzards.

6. Fertilization

  • Apply a liquid fertilizer for indoor plants every 4-6 weeks during the active growth period (spring-summer).

7. Transplantation

  • Transplant the plant every 2-3 years or when the roots become crowded, using a pot with good drainage.

8. Reproduction

  • It multiplies easily through stolons.
  • Cut a stolon with small roots and plant it in a moist substrate.

9. Common problems

  • Yellowed leaves : Excessive or insufficient watering.
  • Dry or burnt leaves : Direct exposure to sunlight.
  • Pests : May be affected by aphids or mites. Use natural insecticides as needed.
