Psychopsis Mariposa is an epiphytic hybrid of the Psychopsis genus (Orchidaceae family), registered in 1972 by Ruben (Psychopsis papilio × Psychopsis Kalihi). It is one of the easiest and most frequent-flowering hybrids, which also makes it the most sought-after in the genus.
Botanical characteristics:
- Flowers: Large, approximately 10-15 cm. Butterfly-shaped, with broad, wavy lateral sepals in shades of copper, bronze, yellow, and mahogany, spotted or barred. Yellow lip with red markings. Usually one flower open at a time on the stem. Fragrance-free. Each flower lasts up to 4 weeks, after which the stem resumes flowering within a few weeks.
- Habit: Compact plant with flattened pseudobulbs and leathery, spotted leaves. Tall, thin, rigid flower stems. Intermediate-to-warm growth conditions.
- Special features: Sequential flowering. The same stem can rebloom for 5-15 years. It should only be cut if it dries out completely.
Recommended substrate: Oncidium Substrate
The decorative pot is not included in the price.
