Full description and specifications

Peristeria Parotia is a spectacular hybrid obtained by crossing Peristeria elata and Peristeria cerina , registered in 2015 by A. Misang. This hybrid is considered a "primary hybrid", which means that it comes from the direct crossing of two pure species, each contributing 50% to the plant's characteristics.

Features

- Flowers : Peristeria Parotia inherits characteristics from both parents, having spectacular flowers that can vary in shades of pink.

- The leaves : The plant has large and pleated leaves, which grow from the top of each pseudobulb, a typical characteristic for many species of the Peristeria genus.

- Pseudobulbs : These pseudobulbs are large and contribute to the support of the plant and the storage of nutrients, which allows it to withstand periods of drought better than other orchids.

Like other orchids of the Peristeria genus, this hybrid requires growing conditions similar to a tropical climate: indirect but strong light, high humidity and regular watering during periods of active growth. It is also important that the plant be placed in a well-ventilated environment, to prevent the appearance of mold and other problems associated with excessive humidity. From the point of view of care, Peristeria is very similar to the Catasetum genus - Catasetum care guide .
