Hoya macrophylla is an epiphytic vine with thick, glossy green, oval-elliptic foliage and prominent longitudinal veins. It is not 'Albomarginata', not 'Pot of Gold', and not Silver Splash. New shoots may have reddish tips. Under good growing conditions, star-shaped umbels may appear; in this species, the corolla is described as lime or greenish-yellow, with a burgundy corona. The flowers are fragrant. Blooming depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage. The leaves shown in the gallery are broadly ovate or elliptic, thick and glossy, with 3–5 prominent main veins that give the blade a ridged appearance, like a cinnamon leaf. The background is green, without silver splashes and without a cream margin or center. Young shoots may emerge reddish. The plant has a vining habit and requires support so the foliage remains visible. This is not the plate-like foliage sold as Hoya latifolia.

Flowers and fragrance. The species' flowers are star-shaped and grouped in pendent umbels. Cultivation sources describe a lime or greenish-yellow corolla and a burgundy or dark red corona, not pink-orange umbels. They are fragrant; we do not assign a single specific note. The number of flowers per umbel varies. Blooming depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted name is Hoya macrophylla Blume, published in 1827. It is an epiphyte native from Vietnam and western Malesia to the Lesser Sunda Islands (Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Malaya). The title does not change. 'Variegata', 'Pot of Gold', and Silver Splash are other pages, not alternative names for this lot.

The ceramic pot is not included in the price.

Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium – SG Mix.
