Hoodia gordonii is an unusual succulent native to the arid regions of South Africa and Namibia, valued for its upright, fleshy, spiny stems with a cactus-like appearance. Although it closely resembles a cactus, it belongs to the Apocynaceae family, not the Cactaceae family.

Under favorable conditions, the plant can produce large, fleshy flowers in shades ranging from beige-pink and reddish-brown to purple, with a very distinctive appearance. It is a collector's species suitable for lovers of rare succulents and plants with a sculptural appearance.
