Thelocactus setispinus (syn. Hamatocactus setispinus) is a cactus native to Mexico and southern Texas, valued for its ornamental appearance, long decorative spines, and abundant flowering. The dark green body, globular to cylindrical, is crossed by well-defined ribs, and the areoles produce golden to reddish-brown spines that give the plant a distinctive look.

In the warm season, mature specimens produce large yellow flowers with a red-burgundy center, one of the most spectacular color combinations found in cacti.
