Ficus carica 'Lungo Del Portogallo' is a variety of fig tree that produces exceptionally long and sweet fruits. The origin of this cultivar is not clearly defined, but the name suggests a connection to Portugal.

The fruits of 'Lungo Del Portogallo' are unique due to their elongated shape, hence the name "lungo." They have a thin light green skin and dense red flesh. The taste is sweet and aromatic, with a perfect balance between the natural sweetness of the fruit and a slight acidity. Biferous variety - with two fruiting periods per year. When climatic conditions are favorable, both harvests are very abundant.

Fruit weight: approx. 70-100 grams

Garden hardiness. It withstands temperatures down to -20°C without significant damage. Hardiness increases as the plant matures, the root system develops, and the branches thicken. It is recommended to protect the plants in the first years by wrapping them with microporous film (anti-frost film, Agril-type film, etc.). Frost damage to fig trees affects the aerial parts, but the roots remain alive, and the plant regrows in spring.

Resistance to diseases and pests. Fig trees are considered ‘pest free’.

Parthenocarpic variety - it is self-fertile and does not require a pollinator.
