Coelogyne cristata *fragrant
€34,95
Coelogyne cristata, often called the "Snow Queen," is an epiphytic species native to the cold mountainous regions of the Himalayas (Nepal, Northern India, Vietnam). It is renowned for the purity of its flowers and the visual spectacle it offers in full bloom.
-
Flowers: It produces hanging (drooping) stems loaded with large flowers (7-10 cm), of a spotless white, with a crystalline, shining texture. The petals and sepals are slightly wavy, and the lip has distinct "ridges" (fine threads) in the center, colored yellow-golden to orange, creating a beautiful contrast.
-
Scent: The flowers are fragrant, giving off a sweet, pleasant aroma often compared to the smell of bananas, daffodils, or simply a fresh floral scent.
-
Pseudobulbs: It has spherical or oval pseudobulbs, light green in color, which grow clustered on the rhizome. A specific feature is that these tend to shrivel (wrinkle) during rest or drought periods but rehydrate afterward (partially or fully).
-
Temperature and Cultivation: It is a cool greenhouse orchid. To bloom abundantly, it absolutely needs a winter rest period characterized by low temperatures (even 10-12°C at night) and greatly reduced watering. Without this thermal and water "stress," the plant will produce only leaves, not flowers.
