Papaya in pots - Papaya carica (young specimens grown 100% biologically)
Papaya carica - herbaceous plant with little branching, growing on the tall stem, cultivated in most tropical countries. It is also known as mamao, tree melon, or lechoza.
The cultivated version of the plant produces the fruit that is frequently found in commerce, with a size of approximately 15 cm. The ripe fruit is sweet-flavored, juicy, similar to watermelon, orange in color.
The leaves of the plant have been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes. Unripe fruits and leaves contain a unique enzyme called papain - this is used for tenderizing tough meats in the food industry, but also traditionally by wrapping meats in leaves.
Papaya carica loses its leaves at the base as it grows in height. This aspect is part of the natural evolution process of the plant.
Resistance in the garden: up to -7°C, but at this temperature it is expected to completely lose its leaves. Wintering indoors or in protected spaces is recommended.
Pot diameter: 12 cm. Height with pots included: 25-35 cm.
The decorative bowl is not included in the price.
