Paphiopedilum Pinocchio (glaucophyllum x primulinum) sequential/multiflower

Paphiopedilum Pinocchio is a hybrid of P. glaucophyllum and P. primulinum, valued for its sequential flowering: on the same stem, the flowers can appear one after another over a long period. It is an indoor orchid that prefers consistency rather than frequent changes in location and routine.

Light. Medium, filtered light is suitable. An east-facing window or a bright location protected from direct summer sun helps maintain firm leaves without spots. Very dark leaves may indicate insufficient light, while yellow-brown areas indicate excessive sun.

Watering. The fine roots do not tolerate complete drying out. Keep the substrate slightly moist but aerated, and water when the upper part begins to dry. Standing water is just as harmful as prolonged dryness; do not leave the pot in a water-filled cachepot.

Temperature and air. Normal room temperature with gentle ventilation is suitable. Avoid cold drafts, hot air from radiators, and repeatedly moving the plant after the flower stem appears.

Fertilizing and repotting. During active growth, apply diluted orchid fertilizer after watering. Repot when the substrate has degraded or when new roots appear, using a fine, airy mix; substrate for vigorous-growing orchids can be adapted with finer material.

Sequential flower stem. Do not cut the green stem after the first flower: Pinocchio may continue producing new buds. A stem that dries out completely should be removed cleanly, while a plant with mature leaves and healthy roots can develop the next flowering cycle.
