Hoya Guppyi – large, fragrant red flowers

Hoya guppyi (also known by the synonym Eriostemma guppyi) is a Hoya species native to the Solomon Islands, appreciated by collectors for its large, intense purplish-red / burgundy flowers and thick, waxy leaves.

The leaves are broad, elliptical, thick, and deep green, with visible veins. The flowers appear in umbels and are relatively large (approx. 2.5–4 cm in diameter), dark purplish-red / burgundy, with a typical waxy texture. They have a sweet, pleasant fragrance that is more intense in the evening. It is a vigorous climbing plant.

Simple care:

• Light: bright, indirect light. Tolerates filtered morning sun.
• Temperature: warm (18–28°C). Prefers stable warmth.
• Watering: allow the substrate to dry out well between waterings. It is sensitive to excess water.
• Humidity: medium to high (50–70%).
• Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium - SG Mix.

Uses:
Ideal for climbing supports or hanging baskets. Its large, intensely colored flowers make it an outstanding choice for Hoya collections.

Note: Do not cut off the peduncles after flowering – it will rebloom on the same stems. It prefers to be slightly root-bound.
