Full description and specifications

Thelocactus hexaedrophorus is a succulent cactus native to Mexico, appreciated for its unique shape and large, colorful flowers. This species is relatively hardy and is suitable for cactus collectors due to its distinctive appearance and moderate care requirements.

Feeding takes place at the end of spring and beginning of summer. The flowers are spectacular, trumpet-shaped, white or pink.

Care:

  • Light: Thelocactus hexaedrophorus prefers exposure to direct sun or partial shade. Strong light is essential for optimal development and flowering.
  • Soil: It needs a well-drained soil, specific mixture for cacti.
  • Watering: Watering should be moderate during the growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering should be significantly reduced or even stopped to prevent rot.
  • Temperature: Tolerates high temperatures, but does not tolerate frost. It is recommended to be kept at a minimum temperature of 5°C during the winter.

Special features:

  • Growth rate: Grows quite slowly, but becomes more impressive as it matures.
  • Resistance: It is very resistant to drought and requires very little water, being ideal for cacti collectors who want a plant that is easy to maintain.
