Full description and specifications

Leptospermum scoparium, also known as manuka or New Zealand tea tree, is a shrub or small tree in the Myrtaceae family, native to Australia and New Zealand. It has a variable height, reaching from 2 to 5 meters, depending on the growing conditions. Leptospermum scoparium is appreciated for its delicate flowers, usually in shades of white or pink, that appear in spring or early summer. The flowers are small, with five petals and have a prominent center, full of stamens.

The leaves are small, lanceolate or ovate, with fine jagged edges in some varieties, dark green and arranged alternately on the branches. The plant has a dense growth and can be used for ornamental purposes, for creating hedges or as a single plant in gardens.

Leptospermum scoparium is also known for its medicinal properties, especially for the honey produced by the bees that pollinate its flowers, known as manuka honey. This honey is appreciated for its antibacterial and healing properties, being used in various health and personal care products.

The plant prefers well-drained soils and sunny positions, but can tolerate a wide range of soil and climatic conditions. It is relatively drought tolerant once established and requires little care, making it a popular choice for gardeners who want a low-maintenance plant.
