The flowers are white or pale pink, appearing among the fleshy leaves, lasting 5-7 days and have an interesting scent similar to almonds.
The origin of the plant is still uncertain and debated - it was initially published as Hoya carnosa 'Compacta', considered a cultivar of carnosa, but later republished as a distinct species, the currently accepted name being Hoya compacta.
Other popular names for Hoya compacta: Hoya compacta aureomarginata, Hoya compacta albomarginata, Hoya carnosa 'Regalis', Hoya compacta variegata, Variegated Hindu Rope, Variegated Indian Rope (rope)
