Full description and specifications

is a variety of ornamental cactus, known for its vibrant flowers and compact shape, being a popular choice for cactus collectors.

Chamaecereus 'Cerise' is characterized by its small, cylindrical and dense stems, which grow in groups. The stems are light green in color and can reach a length of approximately 10-15 cm, often forming a dense carpet. The main attraction of this cactus is its cerise (deep pink) flowers, which are quite large in relation to the size of the plant and appear in spring or early summer. The flowers add a nice contrast against the green stems and can last for several days.

Care:

  1. Light: Chamaecereus prefers direct sunlight, but must be protected from the scorching midday sun in areas with very hot climates. Sunlight is essential for flowering.

  2. Watering: As with most cacti, watering should be moderate. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.

  3. Soil: Use a well-drained soil mix specially designed for cacti. A poor soil with good drainage is ideal, to prevent excessive water retention that can lead to rotting of the roots.

  4. Temperature: Chamaecereus is resistant to low temperatures, but should be protected from frost. If you live in an area where temperatures drop below zero, it is ideal to move the plant indoors or in a protected space during the winter.

  5. Fertilization: Fertilize lightly during the period of active growth (spring and summer) using a special fertilizer for cacti, diluted to half the recommended strength.
