Alocasia plumbae 'Calamar Volador'

Alocasia plumbae, also known as 'Flying Squid' Alocasia, is a unique species. Instead of large, lush leaves, this variety has leaves that resemble tentacles. It is also often mistaken for a tillandsia, as the appearance is quite similar if you overlook the details.

Beyond its unique appearance, this variety is not demanding at all and is cared for like any other alocasia – or even more easily, according to some collector groups.

This Alocasia prefers well-drained soil and a high humidity environment. Like other plants of this kind, it grows best in strong indirect light but can tolerate varying light levels. However, it does not like strong direct light, which can burn the leaves.

Regarding watering, it is best to let the soil dry out a little between waterings to prevent root rot. The plant also appreciates a regular supply of balanced fertilizer during the growing season.

Note: Alocasia is a sensitive plant. Therefore, you may receive these plants with some imperfections, but these do not affect the plant’s viability.
