Phaius grows in conditions similar to Cattleya, with abundant but indirect light and low humidity. The suitable substrate is similar to that for cymbidium. Flower stalks appear at the beginning of winter.
In areas without frost, this orchid can also be grown outdoors. It is cultivated as a garden plant in southern Florida.
