Compact fig - Ficus carica 'Little Miss Figgy' (Ficus carica 'Majoam')
Ficus carica 'Little Miss Figgy' - exceptional, compact cultivar (small-sized), suitable for narrow spaces or growing in large pots. At maturity, the plant reaches a height of up to 1.8 - 2 m and a crown diameter of up to 1.2 m. It is also known as Ficus carica 'Majoam'.
Ficus carica 'Little Miss Figgy' is a natural mutation of the 'Violette de Bordeaux' variety. It was discovered in 2010 by Michael Nobles in his garden in South Carolina and was later patented.
The fruit stands out for its exceptional, sweet and aromatic flavor and intense, almost black color. The fruit skin is medium-thick and pleasantly fragrant, while productivity is high. The fruits ripen throughout the July-September period. Branching can be encouraged by trimming the tips.
Garden hardiness. It withstands temperatures down to -20°C without significant losses. Hardiness increases as the plant matures, the root system develops, and the branches become thicker. During the first years, protection is recommended by wrapping the plants in microporous fabric (frost protection fabric, Agril-type fabric, etc.). Frost damage to fig trees generally affects the above-ground parts - however, the root remains alive, and the plant resumes growth in spring.
Resistance to diseases and pests. Fig trees are considered ‘pest free’.
Parthenocarpic variety - self-fertile and does not require a pollinator.
