Hoya meredithii is an epiphytic/lithophytic species native to the low-altitude tropical forests of Sarawak (East Malaysia, Borneo), often growing on limestone substrates.
Main botanical characteristics:
- Family: Apocynaceae
- Growth habit: Vigorous climber (vining), can reach 3 m in length; relatively fast growth for a Hoya.
- Leaves: Very large (up to 25 × 12 cm), thin but tough and waxy, light green with strongly dark green veins (dramatic reticulated or "webbing" pattern). Succulent texture at maturity, serrated (toothed) edges. Architectural, almost prehistoric appearance.
- Flowers: Small (≈ 0.8 cm), reflexed, with a yellow corolla and white corona. Inflorescences in umbels of up to 30 flowers. Sweet-mild scent, sometimes compared to jasmine (more intense at night).
- Other features: Waxy leaves that retain water; prefers high humidity and filtered light but is relatively hardy once acclimated.
It is especially valued for its spectacular foliage and yellow-white floral contrast.
Fragrant flowers: YES
The ceramic pot is not included in the price. For Hoya specimens, the development level is influenced by the season.
