Epiphyllum ‘Frühling’s Gold’ is a stunning variety of epiphytic cactus with large, spectacular flowers, belonging to the Cactaceae family, also known as the “orchid cactus” due to its exotic, brightly colored flowers. It is a highly valued hybrid for its warm golden-yellow hue, abundant blooming, and elegant habit, suitable for hanging pots and bright indoor spaces.

🔹 Botanical characteristics:

Habit: Epiphytic or semi-epiphytic plant with long, flattened, spineless stems that grow arching or trailing. Ideal for cultivation in hanging pots or tall planters.

Stems (cladodes): Wide, green, flat, with slightly notched or wavy edges. They can reach lengths of 50–100 cm or more over time.

Flowers: Large, approximately 15–18 cm in diameter, cup-shaped and open. The color is a bright golden-yellow, sometimes with slightly orange tones toward the center. The flowers are ephemeral (lasting 1–2 days) but extremely spectacular. Blooming occurs in spring (Frühling = spring in German), sometimes also in waves during summer.

Fragrance: some specimens may have a slightly sweet scent, but this is not consistent.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

Light: Prefers bright indirect light. Tolerates gentle morning sun but must be protected from harsh midday heat.

Soil: Aerated and well-drained – ideally an epiphytic orchid mix or a blend of peat, shredded bark, perlite, and leaf mold.

Watering: Moderate. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Watering should be significantly reduced in winter. Excess water can cause root rot.

Humidity: Medium to high. Adapts well to dry indoor air if placed away from direct heat sources.

Temperature: Grows well in warm environments. Does not tolerate cold or frost. Minimum recommended temperature: above 10°C.

Fertilization: From March to September, apply a liquid fertilizer for flowering plants every 3–4 weeks.

Note: Epiphyllum is a succulent plant with flat foliage, sensitive to bumps and scratches. Some leaves may show small scars, spots, or aesthetic imperfections that occurred during growth or transport. These imperfections do not affect the plant’s health and are not grounds for complaint – the plant is perfectly viable and continues to develop normally.
The plant is sold without flowers!
