Saintpaulia Radiant Glow - violete africane bicolore
African violets (Saintpaulia) are compact and delicate indoor plants, native to Tanzania and Kenya. They are valued for their abundant and long-lasting flowering: the flowers can be single, semi-double, or double, in a wide range of colors (blue, violet, pink, red, white, yellow). The leaves are velvety, deep green, often with slightly scalloped or wavy edges, forming a decorative rosette.
Care tips
Light:
They need good but filtered (indirect) light. Direct sunlight can stain or burn the leaves. They thrive near a window facing east or west.
Temperature:
Preferably 18–24°C. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes, which can hasten flower drop.
Watering:
Water when the top layer of the soil is dry. Ideally, water from below (in the saucer) or carefully along the edge of the pot to avoid wetting the leaves and the center of the rosette.
Humidity:
They like moderate humidity. Do not spray the leaves, as moisture on their surface can encourage fungal problems.
Soil:
Use an airy, well-drained soil mix dedicated to African violets (or a light mix that retains moisture without waterlogging).
Fertilizing:
During the growing season (spring–summer), fertilize about once a month with diluted fertilizer for flowering plants, preferably with a higher phosphorus and potassium content. In winter, reduce or stop fertilizing depending on growth rate.
Repotting:
Recommended every 2–3 years, into a pot 1–2 cm larger in diameter than the previous one, always with drainage holes. The best time is spring or summer.
Pot diameter: 9–12 cm
Note: The leaves of this plant are brittle and can easily be damaged during transport and handling. The price applies to a plant with or without flowers.
The ceramic pot is not included in the price.
